The curative potential of stem cell therapy has gained popularity – but in some cases, humans have become the guinea pigs of unproven and costly treatments. And the side effects could be serious.

Imagine having a child with a rare condition that impacts their brain and immune systemn. Conventional medicine can’t help, so in desperation you try stem cell therapy – from all reports, it sounds miraculous. That’s what the parents of a nine-year old Israeli boy decided to do.
